Passport Services

Returning to the United States on an Expired U.S. Passport

If you are overseas and your passport expired on or after January 1, 2020, you may be able to use your expired passport to return directly to the United States until December 31, 2021.  See this page for more information.

Passport renewals are facilitated through the U.S. Embassy in Yaounde, Cameroon and require approximately one month’s processing time.

American citizens in the C.A.R. are encouraged to keep their passport up-to-date, and to re-apply for a new passport several months in advance of the expiration date of their current passport. For more information, please visit the website of the U.S. Embassy in Yaoundé:

At this time, the U.S. Embassy in Bangui does NOT offer emergency passport services.
