This violence must stop. Once again an employee of a humanitarian organization was killed during the course of duty. The Embassy of the United States of America unequivocally and vehemently condemns this most recent attack against a member of the International Committee of the Red Cross. We express our heartfelt condolences to the family of Youssouf Atteipe and to the ICRC as a whole. Civilians, humanitarians, Peacekeepers, and all non-combatants should not bear the fatal cost and suffering of continued violence (#NotATarget).  It is unacceptable.  The Embassy of the United States will continue to support Central Africans’ efforts to find peaceful solutions to the issues confronting this nation so that its citizens may find a path to a better future. We are committed to working towards the goal of a stable, peaceful, successful and democratic Central African Republic.
