Deputy Chief of Mission

Bridget Premont arrived as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Bangui, Central African Republic in August 2023. Previously she served as Director of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) Affairs in Nassau, The Bahamas. Past assignments include Tijuana, Ottawa, Brussels, Quito, Nicosia, and Port-au-Prince.  In Washington, Bridget worked in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs and in the Executive Secretariat’s Operations Center, Office of Crisis Management. Prior to joining the Department, Bridget worked as a research assistant at The Brookings Institution. A native of California and Idaho, she studied at Georgetown (M.S.F.S.) and Gonzaga Universities (B.A.) and speaks French, Spanish, and some Haitian Creole. She is married to Philippe Premont and they have two children.
