It is with deep sadness that the U.S. Embassy in the Central African Republic has learned of the sudden death of Georges Stanislas Ouapure-Zézé, an irreplaceable figure in the media sphere and a fervent activist in the fight against disinformation.
As Publishing Director of the newspaper Le Tambourin, and Coordinator of the Consortium of Central African Journalists in the Fight Against Disinformation (CJCLD), Georges championed truth and ethics as hallmarks of the Central African media landscape.
We salute his dedication, professionalism, and humility, which have made him an inspiring role model for his fellow journalists. He worked tirelessly for a free and responsible press, free from misinformation.
The entire team at the U.S. Embassy in the Central African Republic pays tribute to Georges and extends our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
